Adrian F. Nagle

August 9, 1940 — August 29, 2024

Thornton, Colorado

Adrian F. Nagle, III, born Aug. 9th, 1940, passed away at home with his family by his side Aug. 29, 2024. He was born in Grove City, PA. Adrian lived an abundant and fulfilling life dedicated to family as he lived his life through three important tenets: Christian faith and family, hard work, and good education. He attended Lincoln Jr. High and Grove City Senior High schools in Grove City. He attended Calvin College for two years, worked for the Forest Service in Idaho, and finished his business degree at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended Officer Candidate School at U.S. Army Field Artillery School, Ft. Sill, Lawton, Ok in 1966 and was assigned as an officer to 8th Infantry Division in Mainz and Baumholder, Germany. During his stay in Germany, he met Maria Schmitt, daughter of his landlord, and married April 9, 1969. Adrian returned to Federal service with the Forest Service in Montana, Oregon, and Idaho. In the years 1983-1986, Adrian moved his family to Germany to work as a civilian Administrative Officer with the 7th Support Command at a new Army base in Rheinberg, Germany. He then moved his family to beautiful Colorado where he retired from civil service working for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) at Lowry Air Force Base and entered a new short career helping Maria with her daycare business. Adrian entered the Catholic Church in Aurora, CO in 1986 at Saint Michael the Archangel Church. He volunteered driving parishioners to chemo and radiation centers around the metro area, as well as providing rides to church. Adrian loved traveling and supporting his 2 sons in any way he possibly could. He enjoyed volunteering with the Denver Harlequins Wheelchair rugby team as the “Hydration Specialist” (not a water boy 😄). He also spent time with his growing grandchildren attending all of their activities and honoring them with achievement awards and beautiful words of congratulations and encouragement. He is preceded in death by his parents Adrian F. Nagle, Jr. and Thelma Nagle (née Billig) and his older brother Richard (Kate) Nagle. He is survived by his younger brother Dale (Nancy) Nagle, sons Adrian (Stacey) Nagle, IV and Alois “A-Jay” (Amy) Nagle and five grandchildren Anastasia (Bennett) Paris; Adrian Nagle, V; Teresa Nagle; Franziska Nagle and Nicolaus Nagle. In lieu of flowers, Adrian may be honored by supporting Tunnel to Towers (https://t2t.org/), The Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research ( https://lustgarten.org/), or Elevation Hospice ( https://sagefoc.com/elevation-co/).

“Continue to be open to what God has in mind for you, not what you think you have planned for yourself. And think for yourself. Look at problems and try to bring solutions forward rather than just say, ‘This is impossible.’ Be a part of his hands and feet in the world.” Betsy DeVos, 1979 Alumnus, Calvin University, U.S. Secretary of Education under President Trump, 2017-2020
