Larry, of Thornton, CO. passed away on the 29th day of June 2023 at the age of 67 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 3, 1956 to Arnold L. and Margene L. Hinkley at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO, while his father was serving in the Air Force. Larry lived in several different places, including Japan, Germany, Texas, and ending up in Deer Creek Canyon, CO. when his father retired.
Larry graduated from Evergreen High School in 1974 with plans of continuing his education. But as life happens and plans change, Larry was working for King Soopers Grocery chain and continued to move up in the ranks. He was the Supervisor of King Soopers Meat Plant for several years.
It was during that time that he met and married Susan (nee. Snyder) in 1982. Together they had 2 daughters and a son. They later were divorced.
Larry had a strong work ethic and continued that throughout his life. He started his own trucking company, ALH Trucking. The company leased trucks, hiring drivers, and training many student drivers. Larry was very proud of the millions of miles driven without any accidents.
In the early 2000's, the family made the move to Missouri to live in the country. While the location was great in many aspects, it was difficult for Larry to run his business. Because of this, he made the decision to relocate to Thornton, CO. and make this his home base.
In 2010 Larry met Helen (nee. Huo) who became his beloved wife on March 21, 2011. While they attempted to enjoy a quiet retired life, family and friends can attest there are no "quiet times" in the Hinkley House.
Helen was with Larry and nursed him through this last, most difficult chapter of his life.
Larry is survived by his wife, Helen, his son, Aaron (Stephanie), his daughter Stephanie Busby, and step-son, Xin Guo. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Leah Busby, Micah, Aaden, and Abby Hinkley. Four loving sisters, Janetta Garrett, Ronell Kraft-Yager (Steve Hall), Amnah "Donece" (Sharif Al'Mushiri), and Tami (Daren) Hawkins, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Adrian Rae, and his parents.
A very special thank you to his wife, Helen, sons, saughter, and loving sisters for all of the love and care they gave to him in his final days.
