Alan Richardson passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Littleton Adventist Hospital, surrounded by family. He was 65. He was born in Creston, Iowa to Wayne and Arlene Richardson on June 3, 1945. Alan is survived by his wife Joy, son Ryan, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and 2 grandsons, Exavier and Owen Richardson. He is also survived by his father, Wayne Richardson, sister Sharon Winter, and brother-in-law Dan Winter. A veteran law enforcement officer, Alan began his career with the Boulder Police Department, and was retired from the Los Angeles Police Department. He had a degree in sociology from Western State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Alan studied martial arts, and was a 7th degree Karate black belt. He was kind, loving, and devoted to his family and friends. Al loved reading, studying, and doing research. He had many creative pursuits in his life, most recently making swords and canes. Because Al was knowledgeable about so many topics, he was fun to talk to, and you could always learn something new from him. As a spiritual person, he believed that life on Earth is like being in school, and that dying is like going home. Alan, as much as we miss you, you are home now. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010, 1:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (One block to the West of Holly Street), Centennial, Colorado 80122.
