Alan L. Yoos of Lakewood, died August 15, 2010, following a 3-month stint with malignant melanoma cancer. He was born in Boulder, CO on February 7, 1950 and was 60 years old at the time of his death. Alan is survived by his mother, Maryetta Yoos, of Denver, his wife, Maria, of Lakewood, and two adult children: a son, David, daughter-in-law Kathleen and grandchildren, Stella, Grace and Ethan Yoos, all of Fort Collins, CO. and a daughter, Jessica, of Englewood. Alan also has several surviving cousins in Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Phoenix and Denver, an uncle, Lester Yoos, from Arizona and an aunt, Lucille Kreps, from Denver; as well as other maternal relatives in Kansas and Colorado. Alan was an avid bird hunter and went wild turkey hunting in the Spring an pheasant hunting in the fall, at the Yoos family farm in Ludell, Kansas, where he spent summers growing up, from age 8 until he got out of high school at 18, to help his grandparents with planting and harvesting and caring for cattle and other farm animals. As an adult, Alan continued to visit the Yoos family farm each year and the farm was one of his favorite places to reminisce about his childhood and spend time with other family members, who still run the family farm. Alan was a chief engineer for White Lodging Services and, at the time of his death was director of engineering at the Denver Marriott South in Lone Tree, Colorado, where he had been working for the past 6 years. Prior to that, Alan worked and retired from J.C. Penney Company, after working at various stores in the Denver metropolitan area for 25 years, in various positions of engineering. Alan graduated from South High School in Denver and attended both Metropolitan State College and Arapahoe Community College, where he earned an associate degree in general studies.
