Christ carried Dr. Petrone on eagle's wings and brought him home on August 10, 2010. Our family and friends thank Christ for his life, and for the rest in Christ he now enjoys. Dr. Petrone was a native of north Denver. He graduated from Cathedral High School. Upon graduation, he received numerous scholarships from six Ivy League colleges as well as Northwestern University. He graduated from Dartmouth College and received his medical degrees from the University of Colorado and University of Michigan. He practiced urology in Colorado and Illinois until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was a true Renaissance man. An endless pursuit of western and eastern philosophy defined him as a historian, as well as a lover of the arts and classics. He served God faithfully throughout his life and he spoke of the one day that he hoped to exchange with his admired Saint Thomas Aquinas. The Lord has granted Dr. Petrone the gateway to an eternal life of light, happiness and peace where he will be reunited with his parents, Albert and Ida, and his son, Mark Petrone. He is survived by his wife, Carole; children, Rebecca (Dan) Holstrom, Alesia Petrone, Phillip (Jolin) Petrone; numerous grandchildren; brother Gene (Judy) Petrone; and sister Loretta Rowen. Funeral Mass and a celebration of Dr. Petrone's life will be on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11 AM, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street, Centennial, Colorado.
