Albert B. Ohmann

Albert Benjamin Ohmann, 90, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away March 1st. Born in Albany, Minnesota on September 20, 1922, to John and Elizabeth (Feneis) Ohmann, he grew up in rural Minnesota and spent a lot of time on his uncle's farm. In June 1942, he joined the Navy and served aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Wilson where he earned the bronze star. After the war ended, he joined the Army and served for 27 years, retiring in 1971. He married Margaret Kraemer, on March 29th, 1955, and had several duty postings that took him around the world, and the family around the United States and to Germany, finally settling in Aurora in 1966. He was happiest when in his garden or when fixing something around the house. He took long walks around the outside of Fitzsimons golf course and picked up lost golf balls which kept him healthy. He enjoyed singing and doing crossword puzzles to keep his mind sharp. Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents, John and Elizabeth; his siblings, Mabel; Ermie; Ruben; his children, Anne; Elizabeth; Tim and his granddaughter, Michelle. He is survived by his children, Shari (Don); Mary; Diana (Dave); Tom (Carol); his grandchildren, Alan; Katie; Jenna; Mike; Stephanie (Jake); Stacy; Matt; and his great grandchildren, Dakota and Cheyenne. He is also survived by his siblings, Jackie (Charlene); Fr. Dan, M.M.; Sr. Elizabeth, O.S.F.; Janet (John) and many other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 1243 Kingston Street, Aurora, Colorado. Interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, 116 8th Avenue SE, Little Falls, MN 56345. Please share memories by signing the guestbook.
