Albert Ortiz

October 4, 1935 — June 2, 2022

Northglenn, Colorado

Albert Ortiz was born into this world on Friday, October 04, 1935, as a precious gift to his loving parents Edward Jose and Sarah Maria Ortiz. They named their precious son Albert Juan Antonio Ortiz. At the age of eighty-six, at the appointed date of death, Thursday, June 02, 2022 he departed this world to join his mother and father, family members dearly departed and to meet family ancestors from the beginning of time and enter into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ and his Father in Heaven, God the Almighty to be raised with the trumpet call of God, as written in the 1st Book of Thessalonians. We also have comfort to know God’s promise in the Book of Acts when the disciples said “Believe” in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved – you and your household.

Albert was born in Capulin, Colorado and grew up on his father’s farm who raised cattle, pigs and grew crops for harvest to feed his family of eight sons and three daughters. The family moved to Denver into a house on Navajo Street, and it was there, growing up in an Italian neighborhood where Uncle Albert formed his most vivid and fondest of memories. He loved to tell stories about his childhood. Once out with a friend on Tennyson Street, he collided with a girl riding a bicycle – it ended up being Grace Kelly, who was at the time a famous movie actress and who later became the Princess of Monaco. As a young boy, about seven, he was the watch-out for the Smaldone’s a Denver Mob Family who participated in illegal activities, like gambling. For his reward he received just enough money to buy an ice cream cone or doughnut at the neighborhood soda shop or bakery. Fortunately, the stronger influence on his young life was his devout Catholic upbringing and the family church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel where he served as an altar boy. The church was on the same street just a couple of houses up and it was there that he attended mass, school and graduated from Mount Carmel High School. As a teen, he worked at a couple of clothing stores downtown. Later he decided to join the United States Army and served in Korea from 1958 – 1962 and left with an honorable discharge. He worked various retail jobs and worked as a federal worker for the U.S. government at the (GSA) General Service Administration. This seven hundred thousand square-foot warehouse carried over 10,000 different supplies, where he would pull orders from their bin selectors and was the faster selector of supply orders that shipped to all military bases in the United States and abroad. The concept was like our modern-day Amazon.

Uncle Albert loved sports, especially football. His family knew that he was an avid Denver Bronco fan, but family members may not have known of his keen interest in the universe, ancient civilizations, European & American history, and their cultures. He loved to relax and watch a good drama or action movie and other documentaries from a broad spectrum of subjects and interests.

Nevertheless, his family was the most important treasure in his life, and he loved them dearly. Despite his apprehensiveness to reach out or join family celebrations, because he sometimes felt uncomfortable in social settings, he still received the much-appreciated love of his family with the greatest of joy. The last few years of his life were his greatest challenge, in and out of hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and home hospice care with me and my husband, Erich. Uncle Albert suffered a multitude of terminal medical conditions. Now dear uncle, you need not suffer, anymore.

For those of us who remain here on earth, we will always remember the gift of your smile etched into our minds. We are so grateful and so blessed to have had you in our lives. Until we see you again, your memory will live in our hearts forever.
