Alberta A. Hand

Alberta Hand, formerly of Rapid City, died peacefully in her sleep on August 6, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. While we are saddened at losing her, we are grateful that her struggles are over and she will, once again, join our dad and her lifelong love, Sherman Hand. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 10:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227. A Memorial Service will be held September 15, 2012, 11:00 AM at Canyon Lake Methodist Church, 3500 Canyon Lake Drive, Rapid City, South Dakota 57702. The family respectively requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Redistribution Center at PO Box 36330, Denver, CO 80236 or Canyon Lake United Methodist Church (CLUM) or the charity of their choice. Major Sullivan Ballou of the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry died there at the battle of Bull Run): My very dear Sarah: But, O Sarah! if the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the gladdest days and in the darkest nights. . . always, always, and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath; as the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by. Sarah, do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for thee, for we shall meet again.... And so we celebrate the reunion of Sherman and Alberta Hand.
