Alex Baumgartner passed away May 11, 2022. He was born in 1926 in a German colony near Odessa, Ukraine. In 1944, he immigrated to Germany and in 1951 to the United States. He lived much of his life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife, Irene, where he worked as the comptroller for a major international company. In 1989, they retired to the Denver/Lakewood area. Alex enjoyed traveling, trading stocks, gardening, and stamp collecting.
He is survived by his children, Werner Baumgartner (wife, Betty) and Ingrid Lewis (husband, George); six grandchildren: Alex (wife, Rachel), Peter (wife, Julie), Nick (wife, Kelsie), and Karl Baumgartner, Elizabeth Kaliher (husband, Austin), and Jacob Lewis; and three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, and Martin Baumgartner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lutheran World Relief Ukrainian Fund .
