Our beautiful and kind brother Alex
Around midnight Sunday, July 25th, our baby brother was in serious car crash that left him with brain injuries that he could not recover from. His kindness is evident to the end. He chose to be an organ donor and give the gift of life to others in need. In honoring his wishes and life saving gift to others, his life support was removed on Friday, July 30th around 2 am at Swedish Medical Center. And he passed away on Sunday August 1st at 1:59 pm.
I would like to tell you a little bit about Alex. He was 45. He was the youngest in a family of eight siblings. He absolutely loved fishing. He can spend hours by a lake and find such comfort in nature. And of course, he loved animals. As a child and up to his early teens, he would bring home strays (dogs, cats, turtles, rabbits) and take care of them. I guess he loved the idea of saving another living creature, much like he was doing to the end by choosing to donate his organs. He loved music and he played a mean guitar. He loved many genres of music like Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilot, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Lenyrd Skynrd..and classical music...such a great music lover. And like our Dad and other brothers, he loved to draw and was really good at it. He loved food, especially our mom's cooking. His favorites were sinigang (sour soup) and dinuguan (pork blood stew). He also loved to cook himself...and made really good salsa. He's always been good with his hands. When he was a kid, he would often take things apart and put them back together again...made sense why he became an auto mechanic. He had a wicked sense of humor. He always had this glint in his eye like he knew something really funny and couldn't wait to share it. So we could always count on him to bring levity to an otherwise awkward situation. His heart was kind and full of compassion. He loved his stepson Shawn and adopted him as his own. He loved his family and we are honored to love him. He will always be in our hearts and we will look to the heavens for his angelic smile.
Please take a minute to say a prayer for Alex and maybe he think about him up in heaven, in his favorite flannel shirt, sitting by a lake, listening to his favorite tunes and just chilling as he waits in peace to reel in a big one.
