Alexander J. Artzer, retired founder of Jolly Coffee Shops and other restaurant companies, died Saturday, August 6, 2005. He was born on January 19, 1915 in Sterling, CO. Al was one of 12 children and was born and raised in Sterling. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mae. He is survived by his children: Frances (Angelo) Calfo, Thousand Oaks, CA; Norma Lou (Tom) Evered, Mercer Island, WA; Alan John (Kathy) Artzer, Denver; Marla Kathleen (Ron) Fossett, Denver; Ron (Joyce) Artzer, Dallas, TX; his sisters Anne Meisner, Jeanne Henry, Florence Monteith, Veronica Hoal; and his brothers Jake Artzer and Joe Artzer. Al was a devoted Catholic and a life-long member of The Knights of Columbus. Al honorably served his country during World War II in the European Theater. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He has 26 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and countless friends.
