Alfred James Leiker

December 13, 1935 — July 7, 2018

Alfred (Jim) James Leiker of Denver, CO, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the age of 82. Jim was born December 13, 1935, in Hays, KS, to Alfred and Helen Leiker. He served in the United States Coast Guard for four years. Jim found his life calling by serving as a Denver Fire Department fireman for 28-1/2 years. He retired as Division Chief.

Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary; three sons, Greg (Cheryl), David (Jennifer), and Scott (Angela); grandchildren, Ketira, Brittany, Michael, Raechel, Brandon, Brooklyn, and Ethan; and five great grandchildren, Serah, Dorian, Damien, James, and Zoey. Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter Courtney.

Jim and his wife loved to travel and belonged to Ports of Call where they traveled to Portugal, Spain, Africa, Hawaii, Mexico, and Ireland. They also had a fifth wheel for 10+ years and took many trips to Vancouver Island, B.C., where they made many memories with dear friends.

Jim also enjoyed playing golf and watching hockey. His all time favorite hobby was babysitting his grandkids.

Jim will be DEARLY missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, the Garden Terrace staff & community, and all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Family and friends will be coming together to celebrate his life on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave. (At S. Parker Rd.) Aurora, CO 80014. The celebration will be held in the HeartLight Center.

Inurnment 2:15pm staging area C at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
