Alfred P. Rossi
March 29, 1940 – January 4, 2024
Alfred (Al) was born in Welby, Colorado to Mary Capra Rossi and Michael Angelo Rossi. He was the 4th of 5 children. He passed away on January 4 after a hard-fought battle with Benson’s disease (PCA). Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elaine McCarthy and Vincent Rossi. Also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Angela Marie Rossi (Lyneis). Survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Williams Rossi and his sons Michael (Lisa), Nicholas (Nola Walton) and Peter (Melinda), son-in-law Shawn Lyneis and six grandchildren Michael Rossi, Jade Lyneis, Dominic Lyneis, Liliana Rossi, Lucas Rossi and Nayeli Rossi. Also survived by siblings Veronica Mitchell and Joseph Rossi (Barbara), sister-in-law Mary Rossi, brother and sisters-in-law Michael Williams (Kathy), Wendy Carlton (Greg), Patricia Herndon and numerous family and friends.
Al grew up and thrived in north Denver (Welby). He attended Assumption Grade School and Regis Jesuit High School. He played basketball and baseball for Regis and continued to play in college – first attending Colorado College (n/k/a University of Northern Colorado) and moving on to Regis College. After graduating he taught in the Mapleton School District for over 31 years, both with elementary grades and high school grades, obtaining his Master’s degree while teaching. Al retired in 1993 and went on to pursue several different endeavors including food brokering, airline work and owning his own mobile auto detailing business. He was an integral part of his wife’s business from 2002 through 2019, best remembered for delivering paychecks on his Honda Scooter!
Al was most content when spending time with his family. He liked to joke that he had been parenting for all of his adult life and it was not far from the truth. He will be remembered for his grandiose stories of tree people, dinosaurs and whatever he could come up with quickly to share with the kids and grandkids.
The last years of his life were filled with pain and discomfort, but he handled it well. He was determined to walk again. Although his disease was part of the Alzheimer's family, his mind was relatively spared. He still knew everyone and could watch (and complain about) football, basketball and his beloved baseball.
Al prayed daily and had a strong faith. His Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2023, at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 S. Monaco Parkway, Denver.
Remembrances in Al’s name to Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
