Alfred Taylor

Alfred Lee Taylor, lovingly called ""Jack"" by his many friends and family, passed away after a short illness on July 25, 2012, in Westminster, Colorado. He was born to Fred C. Taylor of Walnut Grove, Missouri, and Nellie Taylor of Willard, Missouri, on September 23, 1920. In 1942, he married Beatrice ""Bea"" Mondy and celebrated 69 years of marriage until her death in 2007. His surviving children are Shirley Freeman of Phoenix, Arizona; Jacqueline Moore of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Jerry Lee Taylor of Garland, Texas. He also has 5 living granddaughters, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons. His sister Nema Tummons of Willard, Missouri also survives him having celebrated her 94th birthday in July. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother Eddie Taylor; his infant daughter Sonja Kay; and his grandson Rusty Cantrell. Jack spent his youth growing up on the family farm homesteaded in 1860 in the hills surrounding Walnut Grove, Missouri. He left for World War II shortly after his marriage in 1942, driving transport trucks and helping the medics in the war fields. After 3 1/2 years with no calls allowed from home and blacked out letters, he was able to return home. While in the service, much of his time was spent learning trades in the motor shops, so when he returned home he had trades to use in his new job with the Frisco Railroad building railroad bridges as a riveter and steeple jack. From these experiences he went on to develop his very specialized and worldwide recognized abilities in welding on large earthmoving machinery. He was honored to be the man selected to weld the crack in the Liberty Bell if ever necessary. To add to all his abilities is the love and kind heart that he always showed to everyone he met. He always offered a helping hand expecting nothing in return. He always had a smile and happy attitude, his warmth attracted people, and his sense of humor remained with him up until his last days, and even near the end, he was able to give his trademark loving smile. His love still remains with all who ever knew him. A Funeral Service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church of Westminster in Westminster, Colorado, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. Graveside services will be held at White Chapel Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri on the following Monday, August 6, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. Dad and Mom loved their church where they were loved.
