Alfred Carroll "Fred" Wright, 88, of Aurora, CO, formerly of Des Moines, IA, passed away on August 26, 2024. Born on March 19, 1936, in Des Moines, he was the son of loving parents and a lifelong devotee of his Christian faith.
Fred attended Howe School and graduated from Lincoln High School. He furthered his education at Iowa State College, where he studied Aeronautical Engineering and joined the Navy/Marine ROTC. His commitment to service was exemplified during his two years in the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
Following his military service, Fred embarked on a distinguished career as an aeronautical engineer. His professional journey included significant roles at Boeing Aerospace, McDonnell Aircraft Company, and Martin Marietta / Lockheed Martin in Aerospace Engineering and Leadership. His work was not just a career but a passion that aligned with his love for innovation and exploration.
Fred married Janet Burkholder on June 22, 1958. Together, they raised three daughters: Sandra (Roger), Brenda, and Susan (Bruce). His family was his pride and joy, including his grandchildren Maya, Miguel, Rafael, Sha, Janae, Tristan, Gage, and Payton, as well as his two great grandchildren, Ezra and Isabella, and he cherished every moment with them. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Heck Howarth and brother Larry Wright.
A committed member of the church, Fred's faith was an integral part of his life, guiding his actions and interactions. He and Janet cherished their travels, a shared passion that took them to new places and filled their lives with lasting memories. He had a special love for the mountains, where he found both solace and a sense of adventure in their majestic beauty.
Services for Fred will be held on September 16, 2024 at 1:00PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, Staging Area C.
