Alice “Faye” (Poorman) Heverly
January 18, 1938 – January 18, 2022
Alice “Faye” Heverly was born on January 18th, 1938, and went home to heaven on January 18th, 2022, her 84th birthday, in Parker, Colorado.
Faye grew up in Centre County, Pennsylvania, graduating from Bellefonte High School in 1956. While roller skating with friends, she met her husband Robert “Bob” Heverly, also a graduate of Bellefonte High School, and were married in October 1959.
Faye and Bob started their family in Manville, New Jersey, where they made many life-long friends. Darling daughter Barbara Marie was born in 1960 and darling daughter Denise Lynne was born in 1963.
Faye lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis since the 1960’s and when Bob’s job at Johns-Manville offered an opportunity to move to a dryer climate in Denver, the family pioneered west in 1973. Faye and Bob made many life-long friends, celebrating holidays and life events together, creating many wonderful memories for years to come.
Faye and Bob danced at Denise’s wedding to Robert “Bob” Devers in 1992. The birth of Denise and Bob’s daughters Ashley and Alyssa gave them the life-changing gift of being grandparents.
With her husband’s passing in 2005, Faye began her new luxury lifestyle in Assisted/Skilled Nursing facilities, which lasted over 16 years. Faye graduated from driving her big old Pontiac car to driving her new “Cadillac”, a cherry red power wheelchair. Faye never let her arthritis limit what she wanted to do and she thrived in her luxury lifestyle, attending as many activities as she could fit into her daily schedule: Church services, swimming, getting together with her “Sin”derellas Red Hat group, bingo, talking on the telephone, acrylic & watercolor painting, black-jack, watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, going to Walmart and the dollar store, forming great friendships with her caregivers, CNAs, and volunteers. Anyone who knew Faye would agree that her favorite daily activity was talking on the telephone, digging for the latest gossip. Faye really missed her group activities during COVID but she made the best of all of the necessary changes. Some might say that Faye is the poster child for Assisted Living and should be on the cover of a brochure.
Faye never met a stranger and will be remembered for the joy that she brought to her family and friends as well as her great stories and positive attitude, even with her physical limitations. Mom/Grammy Faye/Faye/Alice/Alice Faye will be dearly missed by her family, friends and especially everyone who provided wonderful care for and knew her at Shalom Park these past several years.
Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Heverly, her mother, Frances Fisher, her father, Rev. Fred Watson, her sister, Becky (Poorman) Fisher, her brother Dale Fisher.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Barbara Heverly, daughter and son-in-law Denise and Bob Devers, granddaughter Ashley Devers, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Alyssa and Brendan Ike, brother Lawrence Watson, sisters Lois Fabian and Rachel Keisters, and brother-in-law David Fisher.
A reception to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road in Centennial on May 7th 2022, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.
