Alice Lanier

February 24, 1929 — July 1, 2018

Alice Johnson Lanier was born in Cincinnati Ohio on February 24, 1929 to Mr. David Johnson Senior and Mrs. Nettie Johnson. Alice graduated from North College Hill High School. She married the late James M. Lanier and out of that union two sons were born Andre Keith Lanier and Kenneth Wayne Lanier. Alice held jobs with the federal government, served as an Avon Representative, and Real Estate Agent. She was also involved in Community activities such as a food bank volunteer and a community activist. Some of Alice’s hobbies included sewing and gardening. She traveled to places such as Hawaii, the Caribbean, and numerous road trips throughout the United States. Alice also enjoyed hosting events for Hampton University alumni Columbus chapter. She was an excellent cook and loved and supported her children and grandchildren through many musical and sporting events. Alice attended Hosack Baptist Church and Southfield Baptist Church and after moving to Colorado she attended Colorado Christian Fellowship church. Alice is survived by her sons Andre Keith Lanier (Lola) and Kenneth Lanier (Arlene); also two Aunts: Demerus Sanders and Audrey Jones (Ulysses); five grandchildren: Kenneth DeWayne Lanier, Mckenzie Rae Vallot, Kelyn Divon Lanier, Andre Akeem Lanier, and Alaynah LaBell Lanier; and four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceeding Alice Lanier in death was her husband James McMeen Lanier, sister Velma McPherson, brother David Johnson, and uncle James “Pisan” Kinnard. A Visitation wil be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014 at 5 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in Alice's honor on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Lowry Community Christian Church, 855 Yosemite St, Denver, CO 80230 at 10 am.
