Allan Silk was 72 years old. He was born in Fort Yates, ND. He was born on November 23, 1948. He went to be with the Lord on May 8th, 2021.
Allan lived a blessed life, as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, a friend, and a mentor that touched many lives.
Allan married his wife Gerry whom he called beautiful every day on July 19, 1974. They were married for 48 wonderful years.
Allan’ s family was his priority. He loved to fish, camp, hunt, work on his lawn and tooling around in his garage.
Allan and Gerry loved to go on vacations and hang out with friends. He loved to read, especially his bible.
Allan loved to listen to worship music. He would always tell his children and grandchildren, “are you going feed your flesh or your spirit”.
He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in North Dakota and after high school he was drafted to the Army. He served two tours in the Vietnam War from March 1969 to March 1971. After serving his country proudly, he continued his education by attending mechanic school and HVAC school, He was also a teacher and had the privilege of teaching his own children at the Upper Room Christian Academy.
When people would ask what he enjoyed about being retired, his response exactly was “it was made just for me”. He retired from the Post Office after 25 years. His work ethic will be a lasting affect to anyone he crossed paths with.
This is what Allan would say to each one of us, “keep his legacy going, take what he taught us and apply it and give it out to others. Take that rake and plant your seeds!
Allan- A Mantle over my head, a few words will explain much. I am a teacher, no longer a Shadow Walker…
