Our sweet little Alta passed peacefully and is now in God's loving hands. Alta was born to Matilda and Earl Bird in Luther Michigan. Alta graduated from high school as valedictorian and, typical of her spirit, ventured alone to Colorado looking for work where she spent 40 years at Emerson Electric, starting in the typing pool and quickly moving up to be the administrative assistant to the president of the company, a position she held for many years. Following her retirement, she threw herself into volunteering at Saint Joseph Hospital and was subsequently named Volunteer of the Year. Around the time of her retirement, she was introduced to the Ceriani family which began a mutual love affair that included her involvement in every holiday celebration, birthday, graduation and important event in the lives of her adopted family. Only three weeks ago, they all celebrated Alta's 95th birthday. Alta was a voracious reader, loved her word puzzles, and always won at bingo. She will be remembered by all for for her sweet smile, spunky personality and loving ways. She was preceded in death by her siblings-Eva, Arville, Betty and Don. She is survived by the Ceriani family--her daughter and son (Marianne and Gary), her granddaughters Kelly Ceriani McPherson and her husband James, and Barbara Ceriani Steyaert and her husband Mike and her great -grandchildren Scotty, Ryan, Camille and Charley. Donations may be made to the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, 1835 Franklin Street, Denver, Colorado, 80218. Please share your memories of Alta below.
