Alta Jensen Shepard, a long-time Erie resident, died in Denver, CO, on October 23, 2008. She was 94. Mrs. Shepard was born in 1914 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Jensen, and moved with her family to the Erie area in 1928. She was a graduate of East High School in 1932 and Edinboro State Teachers College, and she taught in the Erie and Millcreek School Districts for over 20 years. She married Dr. Donald D. Shepard on January 3, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Lowell Andrew Jensen. She is survived by her son, Doug Shepard of Denver, CO, daughter-in-law, Karen Shepard of North Carolina, her grandson, Ian Shepard, also of North Carolina, her granddaughter, Karilynn Yarbrough of Florida, and six great-grandchildren. She had been an active member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Our Saviours Lutheran Church (now Abiding Hope), and St. John's Lutheran Church, and was active as a volunteer for the Lutheran Home.
