On July 15, 2022, Alvin “Bud” J. Ratliff peacefully passed away surrounded by family. Bud is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Mary Shirleen Ratliff; his daughter Debbie Lynn (Brad) Hunt; son John (Linda) Ratliff; stepdaughter Shirley McBroom; granddaughters Traci (Bob) Butzen, Toni Lynn Pascal and great granddaughter Tristan Butzen. He is also survived by his sisters Lucille Tourney; Margaret Ann (William) Weber and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Floyd and Ruth Ratliff and his brother, Melvin Ratliff.
Bud was born on February 28, 1924, Salt Lake City, UT. At 18 months of age his family moved to Denver, Colorado. Bud enlisted in the US Army in 1943, proudly serving his country for five years before receiving an Honorable Discharge. After his military service, Bud returned to Denver working as a carpenter and a contractor. Together, Bud and Shirleen built their real estate business which included a nightclub (Club 70), a restaurant (The Little Hobo), two strip malls, a warehouse, two apartment buildings which they named after their granddaughters, along with numerous residential and commercial properties. At the time of his death, they continued to manage 20 rental properties. Bud also co-owned, with his sister Lucille, the Flying Saucer Mobile Park, in Sheridan, CO.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.
Bud will be interned at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:30am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver . Please meet at staging area "B" at 11:15am.
