Alyce Schlomer

August 11, 1944 — December 18, 2020

Lakewood

Alyce (pronounced aleece) Schlomer passed away Friday, December 18th at the age of 76.  She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Gary, her son Brien and his wife Gigi, and her daughter Debra and husband Chuck.  She also had six grandsons whom she loved dearly: Levi and Caleb Schlomer and Nathanael, Ethan, Lance, and Wyatt Hart.  Alyce was born August 11th, 1944 in San Francisco, California to Paul and Lois Anderson, originally from Lake Andes and Platte, South Dakota respectively.  The Anderson family moved back to South Dakota because her father was drafted into WWII.  She grew up in Lake Andes and was the middle of three sisters, Carol was older, and Deborah was younger.  In high school the family moved to Mobridge, South Dakota where her father was an engineer on the railroad bridge across the newly formed Lake Oahe Reservoir.  Here she met Gary Schlomer, whom she then married in 1963.  While waiting to marry Gary, she graduated from Rapid City High School and then from the College of Business.  Gary was enlisted in the Navy, so they moved to Virginia after their wedding, and their son, Brien, was born a year later.  They had their second child, Debra, who was born five years later.  After Gary retired in 1980, they moved to Lakewood, Colorado where they have lived the past 40 years.  Alyce was involved in her church and enjoyed volunteering at the school.  She took great joy in spending time with her family.

Alyce will be interred at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  A celebration service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado on January 5, 2021 at 10:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church and School.
