Amanda Lucile Stubbs was born in Denver, Colorado on May 17, 1982 to Randall and Loraine Stubbs, and sadly passed away July 14, 2020.
Amanda is survived by her parents Randall and Lorie, and by her brother Mitchell. Also surviving are her aunt Jan Collins of Denver, and aunts and uncles Julie Finn (Steven) of Antioch, CA, Jane Scofield (Robert) of Denver, Fell Stubbs (Barbara) of Tampa, FL, Robert Stubbs (Mariah) of Centennial, CO, John Ryan, MD (Jody Foster) of Seattle, WA and many cousins and second cousins. Amanda was preceded in death by her Aunt Sara Stubbs (Sally) Ryan, and by her Grandparents William A. and Betty R. Stubbs of Denver and Edwin E. and Lucile C. Hatton of Mishawaka, IN.
Amanda began high school at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO and graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham, MI. Amanda’s best friend at Columbine was Cassie Bernall, who died tragically at Columbine with 11 other students and a teacher. Amanda grieved that for the rest of her life.
Amanda attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating in 2005 with a BS degree in Environmental Studies. After college graduation she became the manager of a European import boutique store in Boulder. Soon thereafter, she received a gift of a puppy she named Nelle who instantly became her best friend, protector and constant companion. She adopted a second dog, Delia, after her owner passed away. They were her children and survive her, dearly loved by her parents.
Amanda loved live music, especially the Grateful Dead, and Phil Lesch, and attended many shows at Red Rocks. She was a beautiful writer and wrote many expressive, thoughtful and loving letters, especially to her mother. Amanda also loved the mountains and camping and fishing with her family in the Flattops Wilderness Area is a treasured memory. She also loved creating beautiful jewelry, and could sew clothing without the use of a pattern. Her sense of humor will be forever remembered, which she, as a child, termed her “sense of laughter.”
Amanda taught us to be loyal, to cherish time together and to love each other unconditionally. She always knew she could come home again and often did. We will love her and miss her until the end of our days.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date. Please post here if you wish to be notified. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Recovery Center, 191 E. Orchard Rd., #A, Littleton, CO 80121 or to an animal-related charity.
