“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Andres Demetrius Bills, better known to the world at large as “Dre” was born on October 21st, 1994, and sadly Dre passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, at the young age of 29 years old, from natural causes.
Dre was our family’s miracle baby, coming as a complete surprise to our parents after being told they would not be able to have any more children in 1989. As a child, he was observant, reserved and with such a significant age difference between himself and his older siblings, he found solace and comfort within himself, and surround himself with various interests, including, Power Rangers, Pokémon, Dinosaurs and video games. He loved Bionicals and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Harry Potter, Marvel comic book characters like Spiderman, Venom and X-Men. He loved watching cartoons like Rugrats, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd N Eddy and Invader Zim. He was annoyingly neat and tidy and did not like having anything in his bedroom touched, we all learned that the hard way on more than one occasion. He had these big, beautiful eyes that stared right into you and held you. He shrouded himself in imagination like most introverted children tend to do, but when that shell came off the world knew he had arrived.
Dre graduated from High School, excitedly joining the workforce even before graduation. He worked for companies that complimented his personality such as Hot Topic, Netflix and Apple. He had just started a new professional endeavor with the Denver County Police department as well. Dre completed a collegiate program for music production as that was his one true love. As he grew older music meant everything to him. It was his peace, his joy, his life. Artists such as Lil Peep, Juice WRLD, Daft Punk, Skrillix, Avicii, Adventure Club, Krewella, Kesha and Lana Del Rey being only a few.
As a young man Dre still loved video games, anime, Marvel and added into the fray were film, fashion and live music. He had a firm grasp and understanding of the downfalls of this world, openly and proudly standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights and racial inequality.
In his short 29 rotations on this earth, he managed to touch so many lives. He has family that loves him more than life itself. He made friends everywhere he went and not just acquaintances, he forged truly fierce, long and loving friendships, that will live on forever.
Dre was a proud Gay man who never dulled his shine for anyone. Dre’s personality was bigger than life itself and when he was ready for the world to know who he really was, he shone so bright you could not look directly at him. He was not just the sun; he was a solar eclipse.
Andres is survived by his parents Michelle Bills & Charles Bills Sr., his siblings Ashley, Charles Jr. and Jessica. His Nieces Javayah and Kyngston and of course his puppy his, baby boy, Sauske.
