Andrew Watson

Andrew William Watson, age 53, died in Denver, Colorado on Friday, Dec. 10th, 2021.

Born Nov. 14th, 1968, in Kansas City, KS, Andrew grew up in Overland Park, KS, and attended Bishop Miege High School, Benedictine College and Franciscan University of Steubenville. Andrew worked a variety of places over his lifetime including a hamburger restaurant, a yacht in the Atlantic Ocean, as a life insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus in Kansas, as Director of Religious Education at St. Vincent de Paul parish in Denver, as a Dr. Pepper Snapple delivery driver, and most recently, as a driver for the US Postal Service, in addition to managing an apostolate business for 20+ years.  He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic parish and was part of the music ministry there along with his daughter. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and an American Heritage Girls Troop Treasurer and Unit Leader. He was an Eagle Scout, a Student Ambassador during high school traveling to countries in Europe, and an instructor and 1st degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo martial arts in Denver.

Andrew, always full of adventure to try new unique things, loved the outdoors, Astronomy, teaching and woodworking.  He had a strong faith and a strong sense of ethics. He put his whole self into all that he did. He was generous and kind and very sentimental. He was tenacious, strong-minded, and determined. May he rest in the peace of Christ.

Survivors include his daughter Aoife and her mother Christina Coughlan, his parents Robert and Marilyn Watson, his siblings Paulette Samson [Ken] and Annette Burgoon [Mike], his 10 nieces and nephews, and his 5 great nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by W.A. and Margaret Granquist and John and Violet Watson.

Services to be held in Denver:

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 17th, 2021, 4-6pm followed by the rosary, at Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80246.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 18th, 2021, 1 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, 2298 S. Logan St, Denver, CO, 80210.

Luncheon to follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church, 1164 S Josephine St, Denver, CO 80210. The entrance to the shared cafeteria is across the street from the school main entrance.

Services to be held in Kansas City:

Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, 12 noon, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131.

Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Dec 22nd, 3pm, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St, Overland Park, KS 66214.

Meal to follow in the parish hall at Holy Spirit.
