Anita Fick Thompson

Anita Fick Thompson, 67, passed away June 30, 2016 in Denver, Colorado following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 24, 1948 in Alexandria, Virginia to Elmer Wimer and Irma Fick (Sturdyvin) Thompson. Anita was artistically and musically talented and attended Richmond Professional Institute for one year before transferring to the University of Maryland European campus in Wiesbaden, Germany. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wright State University and later earned her Master's degree in Accounting. She most recently worked as a Senior Auditor for the City and County of Denver, retiring in 2010. Anita loved music and art. She was adventurous and in 1969 attended Woodstock. She played the piano, composed music and also enjoyed playing the guitar. She loved animals and was an avid coin collector. Anita loved the outdoors. She especially enjoyed camping and spending time in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. She was good humored, resourceful and a loyal friend. Anita is survived by her long-time friend, Suzanne Glasco; brother-in-law, David Bott; niece, Jasmine (Bott) and husband, Nathan Thompson; and cousin, William Swan and his wife Deborah. Anita was preceded in death by her father in 1987; her mother in 2015 and her sister, Elaine Thompson in 2015. Anita's wish was to be cremated and her ashes laid to rest with her parents and sister in the National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016, 10:00am at The National Memorial Park Cemetery, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
