Anita Tinajera

Anita T. Tinajera, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Anita was born July 26, 1938, to Florentino and Rosalia (Rivera) Rico in Hershey, NE where she grew up with six siblings. Anita’s mother passed away when she was 11 and her father when she was 15, leaving her and her siblings to care for and support each other creating a special bond between them. Anita is preceded in death by her parents Florentino and Rosalia Rico, husband Eliseo, sons Larry and Les, brother's Florentino Jr. and Raymond Rico, sisters Julia Cervantez and Connie Garza. She is survived by sisters Eva and Loy Rico.

In 1956 she married Eliseo Tinajera. They were married for 52 years and were devout parents to their family. They had eight children, Larry (Ellen), Lisa, Lenise (David), Lanette (Thomas), Lynne, Lee, Les, and Loy (Joshua), thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Anita was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all children and enjoyed volunteering at her kid's schools and daycares.

Anita was a strong Christian woman and raised her family in the church. She spent every Sunday in church with her husband and children. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Anita loved watching football, specifically the Broncos and Cornhuskers, and she was rarely seen without her tea or Pepsi. She was very athletic growing up and she loved playing sports with her grandkids. Anita loved to sew and she made many of her children’s outfits when they were young. She loved making blankies for her grandkids and could whip up a dozen or so in no time. In her later years she kept busy sewing and donating crafts to the Arvada Senior Center.

Anita’s homemade cooking was loved by all. She was always cooking and making homemade tortilla’s. No one could resist her steak and chile, homemade beans, and rice. She lived a long and fulfilled life and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 30th at 11:00 AM at Thrive Church 2720 W 92nd Ave, Federal Heights, CO.
