Ann W Hodges

August 26, 1926 — February 3, 2013

Ann died at home surrounded by loving family on Sunday. She was born in Riverton, Wyoming and educated in Brighton, Colorado and Fort Lupton High School. She was the youngest daughter of Clara and Joseph Witherow. She graduated from Loretto Heights College in 1948, majoring in Mathematics. She worked in San Francisco and then moved back to Denver in the early fifties. She was employed by Mountain Bell as an engineer from 1951 to 1958. She married Richard L. (Dick) Hodges in 1957 in Denver. They moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1959 and moved back to Denver in 1968. Ann and Dick have five loving children, Celeste, Richard L. Jr., Mary Ann French (David), Dennis (Arlene) and Daniel (Daniel died in May 2011). Ann is survived by her husband Dick, her four children, her four grandchildren - Andrew and Brittany Hodges; Will and Samantha French; her loving sister Rosemary Laverty of Lakewood, Colorado. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends who loved her sharp wit and great kindliness towards all. Ann and Dick were founding members of St. Jude Catholic Church, in Lakewood, in 1967. Ann was a loving volunteer at St. Jude's and at St. Joseph's Hospital for approximately fifteen years. Ann and Dick were members of Little Parish 15, St. Jude's for all of its years. Their wishes and prayers have been constant. Ann was a courageous woman enduring throat surgery and heart problems for many years. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother. Her great smile and her loving presence will be sorely missed by all. A Visitation will be at the family home on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 8, 2013, 9405 West Florida Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado 80232. Donations are suggested to the donor's choice or to Regist University, Denver in Ann's memory. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado. The family wants to express their deep appreciation to all who comforted Ann so well during her last week at home including Lutheran Hospice, Visiting Angels and all of her loving family.
