Ann Meyer, 82, of Broomfield passed away on July 7, 2020 at St. Anthony Hospital. Born on October 8, 1937 in Russia she was the daughter of Johannes and Elizabeth (Lechman) Lauer. Ann married Alfons Meyer on May 2, 1959 and together they shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2011.
Ann worked on a sugar beet farm as teenager. After moving to Denver, she worked as a household assistant for Rabbi Twerski and at a laundromat. Then Ann worked at Sigman Meat Company until she got married and became a mom. After that, she was a homemaker and childcare provider.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as travelling throughout Europe with her husband.
She will be remembered for having a hardworking immigrant spirit that valued education and freedom of religion. Ann would always say that you can lose material things, but an education cannot be taken away from you. She and Alfons made certain that her children received a college education and encouraged her daughters to do the same for their children. Ann's faith was very important to her, she remembered her parent's fortitude as Catholicism was outlawed when she was a young child.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Heidi Meyer-Pugh and her husband, Thomas, Helga Martine and her husband, David, Elizabeth Meyer-Chapman and her husband, Peter; grandchildren, Angelika Meyer-Pugh, Hope Martine, Hanna Wood (Ryan), Natalie Meyer-Chapman, and Natasha Meyer-Pugh; sister, Maria Stampfl.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother John Lauer, sister Irma Stampfl, and two infant brothers.
