Anna R. Fletcher

Anna (Ann) Rae Fletcher would have been 70 years old on July 13, 2013. Along with her husband Gary Fletcher, she lived in Aurora Colorado for more than 30 years. After an extended battle with numerous health issues, Ann passed away July 6, 2013, while in an Aurora hospital. Ann was born July 13, 1943 in Roswell, New Mexico, to Max and Anna Chavez. Her siblings include brothers Ernest Chavez (deceased), Joe Chavez (Alamogordo) and sister Mary Gonzales (Roswell). Ann graduated in 1962 from Roswell High School. Before her marriage Ann worked as a civilian for the United States Air Force and also for a local finance company. Ann married Gary Fletcher, April 15, 1968, in Roswell. As Gary began a new 30 year career with Moore Business Forms & Systems, the couple moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and later to Aurora, Colorado. Ann was a wonderful mother to identical twin boys, Jeffrey Fletcher (deceased) and James Fletcher (Aurora). Ann began volunteering at the Cherry Creek Schools as soon as Jeffrey and James started school. She later became a full time employee as a secretary in the special education department of Horizon Middle School in Aurora. A heart attack in August 1999 resulted in her disability retirement from this position. Ann is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and prior to her disability she attended many events of the Smoky Hill Rotary Club (Aurora), where Gary is still a member. A very small, closed memorial will be held at the Fletcher Family area in the Rocky Mountain Memorial Park behind the Horan & McConaty funeral services building. She will be interred next to son Jeffrey, who passed away three years ago from brain cancer.
