Tony passed away on September 6, 2015. He was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York on August 18, 1949 to Angela and Andrew Gengaro. He spent his early years in New York growing up with his younger sister, Robin, and older brothers, Frank and Andrew, as well as many cousins. Sadly, at age seven, his father passed away. At age fifteen, his mother was remarried to Mario Cusano of Hamden, Connecticut. Tony and his sister then moved with their mother to Hamden. In 1972, Tony relocated to Denver, Colorado where he obtained a BSBA at the University of Denver - Daniels College of Business in Real Estate and Construction Management and then a Masters of Urban Planning, Development and Planning at the University of Colorado. He recently acquired his Doctorate of Business Administration, in dissertation, at Argosy University Denver with an emphasis in commercial business revitalization initiatives. In 1990, Tony and Pat Arnold were married and their son, Anthony David Gengaro, was born the following year. Tony was a devoted husband and a wonderful father. Tony was a man of honor and integrity, and overall, he was a genuinely kind and caring person. He dearly loved his family and cherished his many friendships. Tony's interests included: Professionally - Commercial Investment Real Estate. Business Revitalization and Urban Planning; Real Estate Education and Research. Personally - Avid outdoorsman, fishing, golf and skiing. Hobbies included reading, research, writing, woodworking and photography. Tony was President of The Gengaro Companies, Inc (January 1981 â Present) specializing in urban revitalization, land planning, development consulting, market intelligence, investment analysis and project management. He also was President of the Metro Denver Local Development Corporation (1986 â present), a nonprofit organization formed in 1978 that is dedicated to business revitalization and neighborhood preservation. Tony served in various capacities at organizations including: ⢠Director and Past President of the Colorado Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate, CRE ⢠Director and Past President of the Colorado Chapter of the Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute, CCIM ⢠Director, Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors, DMCAR ⢠Director, American Society of Consulting Planners, ASCP - National Organization Tony has received numerous civic and industry awards over the last 30 years and he has left a legacy of service to his son and all those who he has mentored. Tony is survived by his wife, Pat Gengaro (Denver, CO) and his son, Anthony David Gengaro (Denver, CO), as well as his sister, Robin Barbara Gengaro (Hamden, CT) and step-sister and her husband, Grace and Otto Schaefer (N Branford, CT) and their children, Matthew and Marlene. He is also survived by his niece, Stacy Gengaro Wilson and family, Billy and Hunter (Newburgh, NY) and numerous cousins and their spouses and children throughout the United States.
