Anthony Frederick Unrein, Jr.

Anthony F. Unrein, Jr., passed away at home on Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born in Hayes, Kansas on July 25, 1920. Tony is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Mary ""Curley."" Tony is survived by his 5 children: Jane (Mark) Ferwerda of Denver; Anthony (Barbara) Unrein III of Thornton; Carl (Sandy) Unrein of Littleton; Joseph (Caryl) Unrein, Sr. of Littleton; Dr. Christopher (Sonya) Unrein of Centennial; and 9 grandchildren: Brian (Kristie) Townley; Steve (Carissa) Townley; Jeanette (Shane) Lyons; Anthony (Barbara) Unrein IV; Serena (Chris Brown) Unrein; Carissa (Joe) Zook; Joseph Unrein, Jr.; Jessica Unrein; Sabrina Unrein; and 7 great grandchildren: Bryce Townley, Kylee Townley, Dustin Townley, Justin Lyons, Chandler Lyons, Brianna Unrein and Madison Unrein; and 2 step great grandchildren: Cameron and Claire Kennedy. Tony lived most of his life in Colorado. He attended the University of Kansas before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. Truly a member of the Greatest Generation, Tony was an American officer in Patton's Third Army and was captured in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Tony and Curley lived in Garden City, Kansas after their marriage in 1945. They moved back to Colorado in 1948 to start a new life and career. Tony and Curley were original members of All Souls Parish in 1955. Tony operated Ambulance Service Company in Denver for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the 94th Infantry Division Association where he served as President and loved attending reunions. Rosary will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00am followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30am, All Soul's Catholic Church, 4950 South Logan Street, Englewood. Interment following at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
