Antonius Cornelis van Munster

Antonius Cornelis van Munster, 89, of Denver, Colorado, passed away December 8, 2016. Antonius was born November 9, 1927 in Venlo, Holland to Willem and Anna Maria van Munster-van Velzen. Antonius is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Johanna Elisa (Peeters) van Munster. Antonius, who went by Toine, grew up in Venlo, Holland. He and Johanna (Hanny), who grew up in the village next door, were married in 1954 at the St. Martinus Kerk, in Tegelen. After WWII, Hanny and Toine immigrated to the USA in February, 1957 and settled in Pompton Plains, New Jersey where their 2 daughters, Joan and Carol, were born. They moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois where they lived for 30 years, raising their family. They lived near Toine's sister Corry vanden Dolder, husband, Jan, and their 6 children and the families spent many holidays and vacations together. Toine and Hanny traveled extensively, maintaining close relationships with their families in Holland. As they became grandparents, Carol and her family were blessed to have Opa and Oma be an active part of their lives. Opa especially loved attending many of their grandsons' hockey games. In 1992 they decided to leave the cold Chicago winters and retire to Denver and live near their daughter, Joan and her family. There Toine and Hanny participated actively in their granddaughters' lives, watching soccer and basketball games, plays and concerts. Toine is survived by his two daughters, Joan M. Miller and Carol A. Zimmer; son-in-law David J. Zimmer; Grandchildren Hannah R. Miller, Elise C. Miller, Gretchen V. Miller, Devin A. Zimmer, Westley D. Zimmer. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 3:00pm, with a viewing one hour prior, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2200 South Harrison Street, Denver, Colorado, 80210. Interment will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 12:00pm, Saint Simeon Cemetery, 22001 East State Highway 30, Aurora, Colorado, 80018.
