Archie Joseph McKay, III

'What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us, what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal'. Archie will live forever! Archie Joseph McKay, III, age 60, a resident in Colorado since December, 2009, died at the Denver Hospice Care Center, in Aurora, Colorado on July 2, 2010. Archie was born on October 22, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. The first of ten children to Archie and Ruth McKay his siblings include: Michael McKay, Pat McKay, Larry McKay, Mark McKay, Susie McKay, Paul McKay, Andrew McKay, Mary Beth Weissinger, and Maggie Connolly. Archie obtained a B.S. from Southern Illinois University (SIU). He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, as a Safety and Environmental Manager. Upon retirement from the United States Air Force at Hurlburt Field in Florida, he went to work with DynCorp International in Fort Worth, Texas. Archie married to Deirdre Sands, on October 20, 1975 at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Michigan. Archie was a devout Catholic and served the church throughout the country in numerous capacities. Archie is survived by his wife Deirdre McKay; children, Helen Marshall, Andrew McKay, Archie McKay IV and Clare Hemmer; sons in law Dennis Marshall, Christopher James Hemmer; daughter in law, Jennifer McKay; and grandchildren Elizabeth & Lauren Marshall, Malcolm, Maura, and Maeve Hemmer. Funeral Mass will be celebrated with Full Military Honors on Saturday, July 10, 2010, beginning at 1:00 PM, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9905 Foothills Canyon Boulevard, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80129.
