Argyll E. Walker, Major, US Army (retired), passed away on August 24, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 98. He was born on May 24, 1915 to Ross and Edith Walker in Olsburg, KS and entered the US Army in January 1936. A World War II veteran, Jim (as he was known to his friends and family), served in the Pacific in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. His military assignments also took him to Japan, Korea, and Germany. After 21 years of active military service, he continued his service to his country as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense until 1978. Jim and his wife, Gertrude, lived in the Washington, DC area after his retirement from government service until 1999, when they moved to Colorado Springs. A kind, loving, and generous man, Jim is survived by his wife, Gertrude, of Colorado Springs, a daughter, Greta, of Seattle, WA, a son, Ronald, of Centennial, CO, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
