Arlene Emma Brown

March 22, 1923 — January 9, 2020

Arlene Emma Brown, the daughter of Hugo & Clara (Kock) Wittrock was born March 22, 1923 on the family farm in Dale Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. Arlene was the fourth of 8 children. She graduated from Primghar High School in 1940 & attended Iowa State Teachers College for one year. Arlene taught school until 1947, when she married Everett Brown. They lived on the Brown family farm until moving to Arvada, CO in 1970. Everett & Arlene enjoyed camping throughout Colorado & the western U.S. They were members of the First United Church of Arvada from 1970 to 2008, where Arlene loved the ladies quilting group. After Everett passed away in August 2007, Arlene moved to Concordia by the Lake, a senior apartment complex in Littleton, CO, where she enjoyed independent living for six years. In 2015, she moved in with her daughter, Renee (Stephen) Latham in Littleton. Arlene loved playing golf, sewing, crocheting, bowling, playing Bridge & painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett of 60 years; brothers, Ervin & Donald Wittrock; sisters, Wilma Rippentrop & Helen Hansen; & granddaughter, Rachel Latham. She is survived by sister, Marjorie Hunt & two brothers, Walter Wittrock & Vern Wittrock; 4 children, Wendel (Kathleen Gruetzmacher) Brown of Los Alamos, NM; Anita Mast of Littleton, CO; Denis (Diane) Brown of Maryville, TN; Renee (Stephen) Latham of Littleton, CO; 5 grandchildren, Michael & Charlie Brown, Valerie Mast (Dan Biga), Natalie Mast (Rebecca Sapienza), & Todd Latham; 2 great grandsons, Silvio & Domenico Sapienza-Mast, & many nieces & nephews. Memorial service on January 24, 2020 at 11:00 am at Horan-McConaty chapel, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO. Burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Donations may be made in Arlene's honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or First United Church of Arvada.
