Arlene Mary (Warnke) Hauck, age 92, of Centennial, CO, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2023 of congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Her life was celebrated with much love and laughter until the very end.
Arlene was born on January 28, 1931 in Parkston, South Dakota. She was the oldest of four daughters born to Adolph Warnke and Loretta Warnke. She resided in Parkston until she graduated from high school in 1949. She shared many fond memories of growing up in a small town, including working in her parents' grocery/meat market.
Following graduation, she was accepted into the "Sacred Heart School of Nursing" in Yankton, South Dakota, where she would live for the next two years. In 1952, she graduated and became a licensed registered nurse. Arlene had a true gift for serving others and took great pride in her profession as a nurse. She worked in many different areas of nursing, but her favorite was OB-GYN. She kept her nursing license current into her 80's, stating, "...just in case I want to volunteer."
While in nursing school, in Yankton, Arlene met a "handsome man with a red convertible" and after graduation, moved with him to Kansas City, Missouri. She married Ervin M. Hauck shortly after, on December 22, 1958. They had two daughters and lived in Kansas City until 1969, when a job transfer brought them to Denver, Colorado, where she remained until her passing.
As much as Arlene loved her profession, her most fulfilling accomplishment was being a wife, mother, and proud grandma. For her, family was everything. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than organizing family get-togethers and attending every school and sporting event of her daughter and grandkids.
Arlene will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh, along with her ability to make everyone feel comfortable and loved. She will be greatly missed until we meet again.
Arlene is the beloved wife of almost 70 years to Ervin Hauck; loving mother of Kathryn Reeves; loving grandma of Zach Reeves (Amy Keschl), Carly Reeves, Nick Reeves (Tia Reeves); loving sister of Kay Doyle, Judy Almquist, and Becky Gearing. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann Hauck, in 1969.
There will be a private funeral service for the family November 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Horan and McConaty Chapel in Centennial. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date yet to be determined.
Donations may be made in Arlene's honor to St. John's Lutheran School, Denver, CO or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
