Arlene Thornberg, born on March 26, 1945, embarked on her remarkable journey through life, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. She graduated from Bunnell High School in Stratford, CT, in 1963, and in 1967, she proudly earned her bachelor's degree in education from University of Connecticut. Arlene's commitment to learning continued as she obtained her master's in education from Salem State in 1972.
In 1968, she joined hands in matrimony with Gary R. Thornberg, marking the beginning of a devoted partnership that spanned 55 years. Arlene dedicated her passion and talent to education, serving as an elementary school teacher from 1967 to 2003 in Massachusetts, Texas and Colorado. Her impact on the lives of countless students resonates as a testament to her unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds.
Beyond the classroom, Arlene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had an enduring love for her family, dogs, cherished moments of socializing with friends, delighted in retail therapy during her shopping excursions, and reveled in the adventures of traveling, hiking, and running.
On November 8, 2023, Arlene Thornberg peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Thornberg, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, their loving daughter, Rebecca and two grandsons, Jack and Alex. Arlene's spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
