Arline Anne Young (nee Schuster) of Denver, CO died peacefully December 27, 2023.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Arline was named Colorado Mother of the Year in 1983. Throughout her life, Arline lived a consistent and unwavering dedication to God, family, and country. For 63 years Arline was the unfailing love and companion of J. Bayard Young (deceased – 7/21/16).
Arline and Bay were founding members of Most Precious Blood Parish, as well as life-long members of the Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.
She graduated from Loretto Heights with a degree in Home Economics which led to a love of sewing and quilting, cooking, and baking, then passing that love down to her children. Of special interest to Arline was working with American Mothers, Birthright, Women in Need, Catholic Charities, and Hospice of Peace, as well as serving meals to the needy. Arline was one of the founding members of the Archdiocese of Denver’s Pro-Life Commission and she also promoted Colorado Vincentian Volunteers. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, weekends at the cabin, and making numerous friendship quilts.
Bay and Arline were blessed with eight children: Joseph Paul (Diane) Young, Bernadette Marie (Tim) Haggerty, Daniel Patrick (Robin) Young, Michael Matthew (Debbie) Young, Sheila Anne (Michael) Anderson, Marilyn Jean Cheever, Christopher John Young, and Mary Katherine (James) Mark; 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Arline was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
