Arlo Hannasch

Arlo Martin Hannasch, age 89, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away at home on Saturday, January 8, 2022, after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for many years. He was born on June 21, 1932, in Carroll, Iowa, to Anton and Leone Hannasch and graduated from high school in Milford, Iowa, in 1950. Arlo proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1954, remaining in Colorado Springs where his family had moved during his service. In 1955, he met Marlene Langevin on her first day in town after she moved from Faribault, Minnesota. They married in 1956.

Arlo spent most of his life working in the tire business, with many years as a regional manager for B.F. Goodrich. This led to family moves from Englewood to Albuquerque, to southern California, and back to Colorado in 1977. His children have fond memories of exploring many places in New Mexico and California. Through B.F. Goodrich, he and Marlene earned trips to fascinating places like Germany, Italy, Japan, Hawaii, and Mexico.

Arlo loved traveling, sports, and the outdoors. He took his young family camping and fishing almost every weekend, traveling in an RV in later years. He bowled; biked; played golf, racquetball, and tennis; and he took up skiing after moving back to Colorado. He liked puttering in his motor home and in his garage, and he always had one of the best-kept yards on the block. He was a devoted Broncos fan, and he often listened to basketball and baseball games as he puttered.

Arlo was deeply loved by his family, and we will greatly miss him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marlene; brother James Hannasch; son Brother Gary Charles; daughters Kay (Deacon Kevin) Leiner and Lynn (Stan) Brown; grandchildren Nick (Jenn) Brown; Rebecca Leiner, Kari Ellison, and Rachel (Jared) Sralla; and great-grandchildren Abbygail, Gage, Jordyn, Ryan, and Maelynn. His brothers Lavern and William and son Douglas preceded him in death.

A Visitation will be on Monday, January 24, from 6:15 to 7:00pm with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, 80122. A Funeral Mass and Reception will be on Tuesday, January 25, at 11:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street in Centennial. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on Thursday, January 27, at 2:15pm.
