Arthur James Turek Sr, known to friends as Artie, passed to eternal life Friday December 1st 2023 at age 85 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Along with his 5 grandchildren Scott (Kelly) Turek, Anthony Turek, Jacquelyn ( Will) Thomas, Michael ( Krystal) Turek and Brittany ( Dante) Frascona. Artie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frank, his sister Corinne, his son Frank and his son-in-law Doug.
Artie had a successful business career with Diners Club, spanning 28 years. He was proud that he started in the mail room and rose to Vice President of Operations. He relocated the operation from New York City to Denver and moved here in 1970.
Along with a couple of other management positions Artie was in charge of Financial Reporting for the Resolution Trust Company. He followed that with a job at a consulting firm in Denver which led to Artie being named Acting CEO overseeing a company called Uniband on a reservation in North Dakota. Uniband was on the verge of losing several government contracts. Artie, with his partner, were successful in turning the company around, saving hundreds of jobs. He considered that among the finest of his achievements.
Artie grew up in the Yorkville section in Manhattan. He grew up playing basketball and softball. He stayed in touch with childhood friends and was thrilled to see many of them at a reunion in 2015. Artie enjoyed traveling the world with Pat. He always told Pat, “You can take me anywhere in the world, but always take me back to Lagunamar,” his favorite resort in Cancun.
Artie loved being with his family. They meant the world to him. You could always find him and the boys playing a competitive game of Risk. Family gatherings at Christmas were his favorite. Artie and Pat loved neighborhood gatherings, and especially playing poker. He loved to dance-often he and Pat were the first on the dance floor.
In March 2020 Artie was diagnosed with cancer. He was lovingly cared for and treated at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center by Dr. Eulitt and his compassionate team of nurses and staff. He fought hard, but lost his battle December 1st 2023.
