Audrey Anne Bower

June 23, 1938 — January 5, 2017

Audrey Anne Bower was born in London, England on June 23, 1938 and departed this world on January 5, 2017. She was a devoted daughter, committed wife, and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her sister Patricia and her parents Ernie & Winifred. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Patrica) Bower, Tracy Quintana, Heather (David) Tuttle and Wendy (Edward) Buck and their families. Audrey grew up in London during WWII. She rarely spoke of her experiences as a child living through the Blitzkrieg, but when she did she had a captive audience. She was close to her sister Patricia despite the miles that separated them over the years. They were survivors, and both loved adventure. It is this adventurous spirit that led Audrey to take a risk and marry a ""yank,"" Jack Bower, a soldier in the US Army. They would embark on an adventurous life together; they would build a family and travel the world. Audrey developed into the role of a military spouse; adapting, staying strong, and supporting her family. She set the standard in entertaining friends and family for holidays and celebrations. She enjoyed and thrived on the chaos of family gatherings. Military life came to an end in 1977, and the family settled in Colorado where Audrey eventually worked as the owner/manager of a postal contract station in Lakewood. When their contract ended, Audrey enjoyed working at Tuesday Morning where she made close friends. In her retirement, Audrey enjoyed researching her family tree, swimming, writing poetry, and supporting charitable organizations. Audrey's life can be defined as her being a devoted, compassionate and forgiving woman who strove to see the best in every human being. She will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, Audrey's favorite charities include ASPCA, ARC, The Leukemia & Lymphoma society, FOOD bank of the Rockies, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at 6:00pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. Following the service, the reception will be held at the clubhouse of the Third Green Mountain Town Homes - 771 S Youngfield Ct., Lakewood CO 80228. It will begin between 7:30pm - 8:00pm, depending on the length of the Memorial Service. Refreshments will be provided. Please join us in celebrating our mother's life.
