Audrey Rogers, 95, of Parker passed away on July 25, 2022, at Porter Hospice Residence, Littleton, Colorado.
Born on March 28, 1927, to Joseph and Mary (Unsworth) McCallister and raised in Raton, New Mexico, Audrey married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Rogers, in 1943. They moved frequently during Wayne’s career as a petroleum engineer, raising three children born in three different states. As her young children became more independent, Audrey worked in the financial industry in Denver and was proud to earn her securities license. Audrey and Wayne enjoyed a happy and active retirement in Parker’s Stonegate community. She was sometimes called the “hostess with the mostess” as she organized progressive dinners and other social events to help the first generation of homeowners in The Overlook neighborhood get to know one another in the early ‘90s.
Audrey was a master at creating a new home and making friends everywhere she went.
Family and friends always enjoyed her warm hospitality and delicious, home-cooked meals. She was often the life of the party with her sparkly blue eyes, bright smile, fun-loving spirit, sassy wit, and kindness to others.
Audrey was a devoted and loving mother who gave her children a strong foundation early in life and then became a friend to them and their spouses. She loved being a grandmother and was a spirited companion to her grandchildren, who adored her. She influenced her family in ways both great and small – passing on to them a strong devotion to family, a solid work ethic, an appreciation of both a well-set table and a well-executed prank, a love of word games, a good-natured competitiveness, and an optimistic outlook on life. The sadness they feel at her passing is tempered somewhat by the fact that she had a long and happy life. She gave freely of her love to family and friends, and they loved her back. As she often said, “No regrets!”
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Maxine Redd, and brother Joseph “Butch” McCallister. She is survived by her children, Sheryn Rogers Sears (Duane), Charles Allen Rogers (Margaret), and Susan Rogers Kark (Robert); six grandchildren, Rebecca Sears, David Sears (Kari), Anna Rogers (Alan “A.J.” Johnson), Katie Margolis (Noah), Bruno Kark, and Clay Kark; and six great-grandchildren, Maya and Llewyn Sears, Aubrey and Leif Johnson, Ruby Fjeld, and Olivia Kark.
Private committal took place at a service for immediate family conducted by Chaplain Shari Otteman at Denver’s Fort Logan National Cemetery, where Audrey’s ashes were buried with her beloved husband of 65 years. Those who would like to make a donation in Audrey’s memory are invited to support Porter Hospice Foundation (2525 S. Downing Street, Denver CO 80210), whose compassionate and caring staff helped her family provide in-home care for her over the last two years.
