Austin Daniel Martineau

November 24, 1976 — December 9, 2024

Centennial

It’s with broken hearts we share, Austin Daniel Martineau, has finished his race. Our hearts will forever miss the ways he enriched our lives. As we wrestle with our profound grief, we find comfort in Austin’s powerful legacy of indiscriminate love, genuine kindness, and boundless generosity. Austin was born in Provo, Utah on November 24, 1976, and passed away in Centennial, Colorado on December 09, 2024, at the age of 48.

Though his life was shorter than we expected, he made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many during his brief sojourn while here below. Born with a unique ability to quickly endear himself to nearly anyone, Austin was generous with friendship and made a diligent and intentional effort to nurture relationships. We are so very grateful for his lifelong friend group that quickly became family.

Austin was a man of many talents and skills: a gifted athlete, his name is still on the high school wall for a ‘bench over body weight’ record. An inspired writer and artist, he quietly won awards for his creations. Austin was that guy who didn’t have to study, but still aced the exam – his career as a telecom engineer suited him well. He had a deep reverence for nature, he loved Lake McConaughy, he found joy in gardening (and named his rose bushes). Austin wasn’t a dog person, but they all seemed to love him. He was an adventurer and delighted in travel with his friends. Austin was an exceptional culinarian and recognized the power of gathering around the table over a good meal….but mostly, he was eager to see the smiles that his creation would invariably bring.

Austin is survived by his parents, Dean and Susan, his brothers and sisters: Katie Eggett (Kyle), Allen Martineau (Danielle), Aaron Martineau (Shelly), Alma Martineau (Ursula), Heidy Martineau, Anthony Martineau, Asa Martineau (Kirsten), Esther Strickland (Brandon), and Adin Martineau (Julieta). He is also survived by his brothers from other mothers: Jensen Sutta, Tony Mauro, Derrick Fitts, Mike Glasser, John Kinney….and too many others to list here. His dozens of nieces and nephews admired, loved, and revered Austin. His reach and impact also include many other relatives and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints (LDS Church), Ridge Building: 910 W. Ridge Rd., Littleton, CO, 80120.
