Austin Harrison Strasser returned to God's embrace on February 14, 2015, at Children's Hospital Colorado, where he was taken after being struck by a car in Bonnie Brae neighborhood, one week before his fourth birthday. Dear Austin was born February 20, 2011 in Denver to parents Tiffanie Jacobson Strasser and Harry Strasser and welcomed to the family by sister Audrey Grace, 5. Austin was a spirited, smiling, intelligent, and playful child, kind-hearted and full of light, curiosity, and humor. He loved the playgrounds at Washington Park, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the train and carousel at the zoo, ice cream at Bonnie Brae and cheeseburgers with fries during Sunday lunches at Reivers, and his teachers at Sewall preschool, where he was a beloved student. Austin got along with everyone, large, small, furry, frowning, differently-abled, young, or oldâhe had a smile and questions for all. He loved reading books with his parents and telling his own stories. Austin adored his sister and looked out for her to the very end. Austin was blessed by a deeply loving and devoted family, and he gave back that love full force. He is survived by his parents and sister; maternal grandparents Cheryl and Eric Jacobson, of Malibu, CA; paternal grandparents Victoria and David Strasser, of Bend, OR; maternal aunts Holly McKenzie and Kristin Jacobson; paternal aunt Jennifer Mester; first cousins Ian and Ilah Mckenzie and Montana Rose and Cameron Mester; and many additional family members and close family friends who were changed forever by Austin's sweet presence and will carry on his light and love. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital, the priest and sisters of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, and the many teachers of Sewall and Anchor Center, community members, and friends who sent prayers and came to say goodbye. Services for Austin will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Austin to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School Fund, 1164 S Josephine St, Denver, CO 80210 or Sewall Child Development Center, 1360 Vine St, Denver, CO 80206.
