B.A. Callow

B.A. (Bev) Callow passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2009. Survived by Sylvia, his loving wife of 54 years; son Lane (Chris) of Parker, Colorado; daughter Joanne (Glen) Hendricks of Broomfield, Colorado; sisters LaVerne Corlis of Greeley and Norma Reynolds of Lakewood; brother Gene died in 1994. Born in Greeley, Colorado on June 4, 1929 to Edgar and Felma Callow. B.A. grew up on a farm in Platteville, Colorado. Graduated from Platteville High School in 1948, and was drafted by the United States Army in 1951. Served in Korea with Combat Engineer 1st Calvary, 8th Battalion. B.A. was awarded the Korean Service Medal, (2) Bronze Service Stars, United National Service Medal and Army Occupation Medal. After returning from the Korean War, he worked construction a few years and did custom combining, however his heart always belonged to the farm. In 1954, he married Sylvia Busch and they moved to Brighton in 1958. In 1962, B.A. began a 33- year career at the Bureau of Reclamation, receiving several awards in recognition of his service. Retired in 1993. In 1995, he was one lucky guy when he won the Colorado Lottery! B.A. and Sylvia enjoyed traveling and seeing the country until he became ill. As his health deteriorated his family continued to be inspired by B.A.'s strength and attitude '"" he never complained and remained grateful for the simple things.
