âLet there be peace on earth and let it begin with me""éâ - Vince Gill Barbara âBarbâ Ann (Buchanan) Arterburn passed away on June 24, 2018 at the age of 81 after battling breast cancer. She was born on May 7, 1937 in Denver, CO, grew up in Pueblo, CO, and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado (Colorado State College) in 1959. She was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority and met her husband, Robert âBobâ Arterburn who was also part of the Greek community. They were happily married for 59 years and celebrated each anniversary by lighting their wedding candle and toasting with a glass of Andreâs finest Sparkling Sweet Red Cold Duck. Barb taught elementary and preschool and was a long-time representative for Colorado Ski Country. Barb, also known as Nanna, loved spending time with her family, multiple friend groups, golfing, boating, skiing, arts & crafts, knitting, church services, organizing events for her local PEO chapter, yelling at the TV when the Denver Broncos or Colorado Rockies were playing and enjoying an afternoon beer while watching the deer, bluebirds and hummingbirds on the front porch of the family cabin in Beulah, CO. She was a social butterfly, the life of the party, and always helped inspire others to join in on the fun and have a good time. She was a proud grandmother, and her family and friends will always remember her unconditional love, thoughtfulness, care, support and the smile that graced her brave and tenacious spirit. She is survived by her husband Bob, three children: Jeff, Julie and Jon, her five granddaughters and brother William Buchanan. Funeral arrangements by Horan & McConaty. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Ave., Cherry Hills Village, CO. Reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers/gifts, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at https://ww5.komen.org/. Cheers to you, Nanna! We love and miss you but are happy to know you are at peace and reunited with our other loved ones in heaven. Please share memories of Barbara and condolence messages with her family below.
