Born January 27, 1949 in Denver, Colorado to Douglas Bell and Annette Bell.
Barbara passed away peacefully on October 27, 2020. She grew up in Southeast
Denver where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. After
Graduation, Barb spent several years working for the Family Business, Bell
Plumbing and Heating in Denver which was founded by her Grandfather, D.A. Bell.
She had a talent for growing beautiful flower gardens that she learned from her
Father and was always envied by family and neighbors. That love stayed with her
all her life. Getting her hands in the soil and planting was a great joy for her. She
also loved her cats and had them most of her adult life. But the animals that took
her heart were the apes and gorillas of Africa. Their preservation and survival was
her wish and she made at least two trips to the Sanctuaries in Africa to see them
live. She was thrilled and never forgot the experience.
Her working career was with the Arapahoe County Sherriff’s office as the victim
assistant coordinator. She served in that capacity for 23 years.
Barbara leaves behind a Son, Scott Sweeney and a Daughter, Erin Sweeney, four grandchildren,
two brothers, Gary Bell and Larry Bell and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister, Patricia
Westerberg. As per her wishes a Cremation took place.
Donations in honor of Barbara Bell may be made to The Denver Zoo0.org/support
for the Primate Exhibit or The Cat Care Society.org or any animal rescue Charity
of your choice.
