Barbara “Barb” Duggan

April 11, 1949 – June 9, 2022 (Age 73)

The family of Barbara “Barb” Duggan, 73, of Aurora, Colorado, is deeply saddened to announce that Barbara passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2022.  Barbara was born on April 11, 1949 to Lola Lee Ratliff and George Ratliff in Bath, Maine.  Barbara moved to Colorado in December, 1966.

Barbara is survived by her longtime partner, Todd LaReau, and her children, Christine Hastings (husband, Eddie Hastings), Tina Gelinas, Robert Gelinas (wife, Barbara Gelinas), Dennis Duggan (wife, Sheila Duggan), Katrina Gelinas, Roland Gelinas, Jr. (wife, Alicia Gelinas), and Sierra Gelinas.  Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren, Kirsten Gelinas (Justin Morris), Selah Gelinas, Kia Gelinas, Mirhet Gelinas, Cole Duggan, Ryan Duggan, Gabriel Gelinas, James Gelinas, Temesgen Gelinas, Jeremiah Gelinas, and Jameson Gelinas, and her great grandchildren, Kayden Morris, and Jax Morris.  Barbara is also survived by Roland Gelinas, Sr., and while parenting their children together, and enjoying their grandchildren and great grandchildren, they enjoyed a deep, close friendship for 58 years, along with Cathy Hickman (husband, Kenneth Hickman), who was like a sister to her, as they all worked together to raise their children.  Barbara is also survived by her nieces Brenda Lee Flowler and Tracy Lynn Stockford (husband, Bert), and her nephew, Jamie Rattleff. Barbara was preceded in death by Dale Eugene Duggan (husband), her Mother, Lola Lee Rattleff, her Father, George Rattleff, her brother, Steve Rattleff, her sister, Nancy Lyn Fickett, and her nephew, David Edward Schumacher.

Barbara was known affectionately as Mom and Mom2, to her children, and as Grandma D, and Buddy D to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Anyone who knew Barbara knew her extreme love for her family and animals.  She shared her love with her family always, and would gladly show pictures of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to any captive audience.  When she wasn’t working, you could always find her with family, perhaps enjoying a margarita at a favorite restaurant.  The enormity of Barbara’s heart is the hallmark of her life well spent, and those of us blessed enough to have had her in our lives are left with a huge void.  She lived selflessly, and always put others' needs above her own.

While serving in her 24-year career at Seven Hills Vet Clinic, she loved every animal that came into the clinic as if they were her own.  When she found an animal who needed a home, she always made sure to find the perfect home for them, and that sometimes meant her home.  Barbara’s easy going, and fun-loving personality was so inviting, she never met a stranger, and she had many friends throughout the years.

We love you so much, Mom, Grandma D, Buddy D! While we grieve such a tremendous loss, we celebrate your graduation to heaven!
