Barbara Dwyer Goss, 96, slipped the bonds of earth peacefully in her sleep on February 14, 2019 at the Brookdale Monument Valley Assisted Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born on January 22, 1923 in Alamosa, Colorado to Dr. Paul and Frances (Simpson) Dwyer, she moved to Denver as a young teen and graduated from East High School and Colorado College, which she served as President of the 50-Year Club. She married Leslie A. Goss Jr. in 1949 in Denver where they remained to raise their 5 children. She worked as a Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade teacher in the Denver Public Schools for 30 years. Known for her generosity, Irish pride and curious spirit, she always seemed to know something about everything, and fiercely defended her family, setting a strong and honest example to everyone she encountered.
Survived by her sons, Les Goss (Melissa Walker) of Colorado Springs, CO, John Goss (Dana) of Creede, CO, daughters Mary Goss (Steve Burns) of Roxborough, CO, Martha Taylor (Marty) of Palmer Lake, CO, 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren and her brother, Paul S. Dwyer (Janice) of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her son James Andrew (1976) and her husband Leslie (1977)
A wake in her honor is being planned for spring, and interment will be at the Creede Cemetery after the thaw.
